Smart Glasses – The Job Interview

A job candidate arrives for an interview. Reception checks him in, security takes his phone at the door — no cameras, no recording devices past this point — and the tour begins: R&D lab, engineering bullpen, prototype area, data center. He asks good questions and admires the facility. But his glasses are seeing something else.

By the time he leaves, those smart glasses have identified people, mapped the facility in 3D, reconstructed a prototype from a dozen glances, transcribed conversations, and captured a whiteboard full of project details, a Wi-Fi password, and an access code entered in full view. He didn’t hack the network. They gave him a tour.

Device policies that stop at smartphones no longer cover the threat. Smart glasses look like ordinary eyewear and capture silently, which means security cameras and front-desk checks will not catch them.
