Emerging Tech: Security — The Need for Wireless Airspace Cybersecurity
Download now▶An overview of what Bastille builds: software-defined radio sensor arrays deployed like Wi-Fi access points that demodulate every emission in a space across many protocols. The result is a Wireshark-like feed and a DVR interface that plots each device on a floor plan in real time and historically, with granular, automated device policy rules on top.
So what exactly do we do? We build software-defined radio sensor arrays. That's this device over here on the right, a little bigger than a Wi-Fi access point. It's deployed in a similar density and pattern as a Wi-Fi access point. There are physical sensors you put above your ceiling tiles, PoE+ powered. And each sensor has got software defined radios-- two software defined radios that's demodulating all of the emissions in your space from a variety of protocols.
So the net result for our customers is we give you a data feed and APIs into super granular packet transmission data from all the devices in your space. You almost have a Wireshark feed for all the devices in your space across all those protocols. And one of the visuals we give you is we have a DVR user interface that puts a dot on your floor plan map for each device in your space. You can see where the dots are real time, and you can scroll back in time and answer questions like, where was this device a month ago at 2:00 in the morning?
The last point on what we do is, with all of our data, we can set granular and stratified device policy rules. You can auto tag devices. You can say, only a certain category of devices are allowed in a certain geofenced area, or no devices are allowed. You can even look at information like what channel a device is operating on. So if it should be in the 2.4 Wi-Fi band, but it's actually in the 5.8 band, you can set up that rule in Bastille and have that policy implemented for you in an automated way. A little bit about how we're deployed.
So we're set up as an enterprise system. You can have multiple deployments of Bastille across your global facilities. And those all feed back to one central fusion center, which we can deploy on bare metal. We can deploy it in your private Cloud as a VMware appliance or in our secure Cloud. And ultimately, that fusion center exposes our API to your operators. And this all of our user interfaces to your operators, wherever they may be.
