Bastille Introduces Specialist Certification for Wireless Security Training

Bastille has introduced the Bastille Specialist Certification, a new certification for current Bastille customers and partners who complete the 12-course Bastille Academy curriculum and pass the final examination. Bastille provides the courses and certification at no cost to eligible participants.

The certification provides a defined training path for developing knowledge of radio frequency (RF) technologies and the Bastille platform. The curriculum progresses from RF fundamentals through Bastille system configuration, wireless data analysis, Advanced Detection Analytics Module (ADAM) capabilities, and operational best practices.

Bastille Academy is delivered online and self-paced, allowing participants to complete the curriculum on their own schedule. The courses are modular, so participants can progress one course at a time, pause when needed, and return later to continue where they left off. Each course also provides its own certificate of completion, giving participants recognition as they progress toward the Bastille Specialist Certification.

Building Bastille Expertise

Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, IoT devices, and other RF-enabled technologies operate throughout modern enterprise and critical infrastructure environments, creating a need for security professionals who understand both RF fundamentals and the tools for monitoring wireless activity.

Bastille Academy combines foundational RF education with practical training on Bastille Enterprise. The certification curriculum takes participants from core RF concepts through system administration, visualization and analysis of wireless activity, threat evaluation, and advanced Bastille capabilities.

The online, modular format allows participants to build this knowledge around their existing responsibilities rather than requiring a fixed training schedule. Participants can complete individual courses as time permits while maintaining their progress toward the full certification.

Bastille Specialist Certification Curriculum

The Bastille Specialist Certification includes the following 12 courses. Each course provides its own certificate of completion, while participants who complete the full curriculum and pass the final examination earn the Bastille Specialist Certification.

1. Introduction to Radio Frequency Course

The Introduction to Radio Frequency Course provides a foundational understanding of radio frequency (RF) technology, including fundamental RF principles and their applications in wireless security. These concepts provide the technical foundation for subsequent Bastille Academy courses.

2. Bastille Components Course

The Bastille Components Course explores the various components of the Bastille solution and explains how they work together. Participants learn the roles these components play in providing visibility into wireless activity and supporting the operation of the Bastille platform.

3. Bastille Administrator Overview Course

The Bastille Administrator Overview Course teaches participants how to navigate the Admin user interface and configure features in the Admin Console. Topics include Detection Filters, tags, maps, zones, AI, and machine learning.

4. Maps and Zones Course

The Maps and Zones Course teaches participants how to add a map to the Bastille system, define areas of interest called zones, place sensors on the map, and view the resulting configuration within the Bastille Digital Video Recorder (DVR).

5. Siretta Snyper Course

The Siretta Snyper Course provides hands-on instruction on using the Siretta Snyper device for wireless network analysis and troubleshooting, helping professionals more effectively identify and resolve wireless security issues.

6. Detection Filters and Tag Policies Course

The Detection Filters and Tag Policies Course addresses a critical aspect of the Bastille system by teaching participants how Detection Filters and tags help classify and organize wireless activity.

The course covers a conceptual overview, terminology and concepts, DVR and ADAM demonstrations, the Detection Filter Catalog, and alternative tagging methods. Participants also learn how to import the latest Detection Filters into the Fusion Center.

7. DVR Course

The DVR Course introduces participants to the core capabilities of the Bastille Digital Video Recorder (DVR). Participants learn how to use Bastille’s DVR capabilities to view historical wireless data and track wireless activity in real time.

The course connects RF theory with the practical analysis of wireless technologies detected by Bastille. The Bastille Administrator Overview Course and Maps and Zones Course serve as prerequisites because the DVR relies on the underlying configuration covered in those courses.

8. Observations Course

The Observations Course takes participants deeper into the wireless information available through the DVR. Participants learn how to examine individual observations and use associated information and tags to develop a deeper understanding of wireless activity.

The DVR Course and Detection Filters and Tag Policies Course serve as prerequisites because participants need a working knowledge of the DVR and tags before analyzing observations in greater detail.

9. ADAM Overview Course

The Advanced Detection Analytics Module (ADAM) serves as the threat policy and evaluation engine within Bastille Enterprise. ADAM consumes the Fusion Center’s real-time observation stream and analyzes changes in wireless devices and the environment to identify security findings based on configured threat policies.

While the DVR focuses on visualizing wireless devices and activity, ADAM focuses on the behavior of those devices. The ADAM Overview Course introduces this functionality and establishes the conceptual foundation for the additional ADAM courses.

10. ADAM GUI Course

The ADAM GUI Course builds on the concepts introduced in the ADAM Overview Course and teaches participants how to use the interface to complete specific tasks. Participants work through practical exercises and simulations covering Filters and Finding Details, Findings by Device and Reports, and Settings and Status.

Participants should complete the ADAM Overview Course before taking this course. The ADAM GUI Course provides the hands-on component of the ADAM curriculum.

11. ADAM Best Practices Course

The ADAM Best Practices Course builds on prior ADAM training and examines common approaches to configuring ADAM to support operational and security objectives.

Participants return to the Admin utility to work with Detection Filters and tags, use the DVR to view findings discovered by ADAM on a map, and revisit Event Filters to understand how these capabilities work together. Participants should complete the ADAM Overview Course and ADAM GUI Course and have a solid understanding of Detection Filters and DVR navigation before taking this course.

12. Knowledge Base and Final Exam Course

The Knowledge Base and Final Exam Course represents the final step in the Bastille Specialist Certification program. The course introduces participants to the Bastille Knowledge Base and demonstrates how to use it as an ongoing technical resource after completing formal Academy training.

The course also includes the final examination, which covers material from all Bastille Specialist Certification courses. Participants may use the Knowledge Base during the exam, reinforcing its role as a primary resource for finding technical information after certification.

Participants must complete the previous 11 courses before taking the Knowledge Base and Final Exam Course. After successfully passing the final exam, participants earn the Bastille Specialist Certification.

Learn on Your Schedule

Bastille Academy is designed to accommodate participants with ongoing technical and operational responsibilities. Because the training is online, self-paced, and modular, participants can work through the curriculum when their schedules allow rather than attending courses at predetermined times.

Participants can pause their training and return later to continue where they left off. This approach allows participants to complete individual courses over time while continuing to make progress toward the Bastille Specialist Certification.

Each completed course provides an individual certificate of completion. These course certificates recognize progress through the Academy, while the Bastille Specialist Certification recognizes completion of all 12 courses and the final examination.

Track Your Certification Progress

Participants can track their progress directly through the Bastille Knowledge Base. Under Bastille Academy, they can view their current certification status and individual course completion status.

Participants can see which courses they have completed, how many remain, and what they need to complete next. Those returning to the Academy after time away can quickly determine where they stand and continue from their previous progress.

Earn the Bastille Specialist Certification at No Cost

Bastille does not charge eligible customers or partners to take Academy courses or earn the certification. Participants who complete all 12 courses and pass the final examination can add the Bastille Specialist credential to LinkedIn and other professional profiles to document their achievement.

For Bastille customers and partners, the certification provides a common training foundation for technical personnel who administer, operate, and work with the Bastille platform. The curriculum spans RF fundamentals, system configuration, wireless data analysis, and advanced detection analytics.
