Emerging Tech: Security — The Need for Wireless Airspace Cybersecurity

Targets, attackers, tactics, and actions are all covered by the data and analysis tools that make up threat intelligence. CTO Dr. Brett Walkenhorst explains how the security industry has lacked sufficient data regarding wireless threats, along with the critical role that data plays in generating actionable knowledge. Bastille collects and analyzes data in an attempt to bridge this gap by using sensor arrays to monitor a range of wireless protocols.
Just a quick definition of threat intel generally This comprises data and analysis products that provide insight into, attackers, targets, tactics, behaviors, etcetera. So there's a lot that goes into that, but first and foremost what we need in order to create intelligence, particularly actionable intelligence, is we need data And unfortunately, in the security world, data about wireless threats has been a bit sparse.
There are tools and resources out there. To tell us about some of the wireless threats that are available, and and I'll tell you about a little bit of that at a high level today. But in general, we lack sufficient data to do this well as an entire ecosystem.
And so best deal, one of the things that we try to do is to help fill that gap. And we do so by collecting data and analyzing it by means of sensor arrays that are monitoring the wireless environment the lead protocols, including cellular, Bluetooth classic, Bluetooth low energy, WiFi, Zigbee, and other IoT protocols.
And these sensors work together to localize those emissions. So the name of the game is detection, location, and ultimately response. We wanna use the intelligence products that we generate to automate the detection of threats and to automate the response to those dependent on customer policies and use cases.
